LONELY PLANET
Metro Arts Theatre 2003

Writer: Steven Dietz
Director: Christopher Totten
Set & Costume Designer: Tanja Beer

Performed at The Metro Arts Theatre,
Brisbane Pride Festival, Australia, 2003.

INFO:
An installation of 200 perilously balanced and floating individual chairs is revealed slowly over time with selected lighting. The setting of this absurdist play takes place in a map shop in a time where Aids has become an epidemic, threatening to take over the world (much like the claustrophobic nature of the chairs slowly taking over the stage). A man in a map shop collects the chairs from those who have died of Aids: each chair, unique and fragile, is reminiscent of its previous owner.

PRESS:

“…This is aided wonderfully by Tanja Beer’s startling design, which features an installation of precariously balanced and floating individual chairs..” Scene
